"Every legend begins with a story. May your own legend begin with the turn of a page."
— Sandra Hart
Sandra Hart is the author of the Velmora's Curse fantasy series along with more than twenty-eight novels spanning fantasy, romance, time travel, historical fiction, adventure, a WWII memoir of her father, and two children's books. A lifelong storyteller, she enjoys creating unforgettable worlds filled with magic, dragons, ancient prophecies, and characters that come to life. Her favorite quote when teaching was, "Tell me, I forget; show me, I remember; involve me, I understand" — a proverb emphasizing experiential learning.
Before becoming a full-time novelist, Sandra built a remarkable career that took her around the world. She met her husband on Guam while teaching for the Department of Defense schools. As a GS 11 she was entitled to go to the Officer's Club on Andersen Air Force Base. One evening she walked into a room with about 50 handsome fighter pilots in their green flight suits who all turned to look at her. She thought to herself, "Thank you, Lord. It's a candy store." She met her husband that night.
After getting married, she served with the U.S. Defense Attaché Offices in Budapest, Hungary, and London, England, supporting diplomatic and military operations in Europe. She always said she was the keeper of the realm — processing all the country clearances for military and government personnel coming into the countries. Her experiences living overseas and traveling throughout Europe and Asia continue to inspire the rich settings and cultures found throughout her books.
Earlier in her career, Sandra was an award-winning educator. She was honored as the 1996 National State Teacher of the Year for the U.S. Territory of Guam, representing Guam in Washington, D.C. and receiving numerous awards for excellence in science education and technology. She was invited to the White House to meet President Clinton at an award ceremony for Teachers of the Year from each state. She has always believed that imagination is one of the greatest teachers — a philosophy that naturally led her from the classroom to authoring novels.
Today Sandra lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spends her days writing, creating cinematic AI artwork and book trailers, and expanding the ever-growing world of Velmora's Curse. Whether she's designing dragons, building enchanted kingdoms, or bringing scenes to life through video, her goal is always the same — to give readers an unforgettable adventure.
When she is not writing, Sandra is busy making designer dog carriers for small dogs (Diva Dog Carriers on Facebook), a hobby she started during Covid. She enjoys traveling, technology, and spending time with her husband, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Michael Hart, who provided invaluable advice for the military scenes in Velmora. She spends every day with their beloved Parti Yorkshire Terriers, Hudson and Hayley, who keep her very busy.
